You can become a qualified Carpenter in just 6 weeks of training!

You can gain the City & Guilds Basic Construction Skills: Carpentry & Joinery (6217) qualification in just six weeks, the intensive courses are excellent in getting you up to the required standard to enter the work place.

You will be trained in a purpose built environment, you will be fully tutored in the theory and practical sides of being a carpenter.

The courses will teach you the theory, as well as practical hands on training so you will quickly absorb the skills you are being shown during the duration of your course.

The City & Guilds 6217 Carpentry & Joinery course contains the underpinning knowledge of carpentry methods and techniques you need and allows you to start work on a construction site as a carpenter with confidence.

Once you are working and gain some on site experience you will want to gain the NVQ Wood Occupations levels 1 to 3
The NVQ’s can only be obtained through on the job assessments by a certified city and guilds examiner carried out in a place of work place by you.

The NVQ will assess:

  • Bench Work – marking, setting out and producing joinery products
  • Site Work – installing first and second fixings and structural components
  • Shop fitting – manufacturing and installing internal and external frames, shop fronts, fixtures and finishing’s
  • Timber Frame Erection – putting up timber frame walls, laying floors and fixing roof structures

Once you have achieved your NVQ you will be regarded as a fully qualified carpenter.
